Don't Cross the Line

Two Social Awareness posters for the Don't Cross the Line campaign from Major League Soccer

These posters were inspired by the Don't Cross the Line campaign that Major League Soccer has been promoting for the last year and a half. I kept the color scheme with the current advertisements that are going around.

For the first poster, I really wanted to do something with all type. I used words from their 2014 PSA to create the design. I was able to adjust the type and have the entire statement fit on 3 lines and repeat the statement 6 times down the poster. I think having it repeated in a light grey color and only highlighting the statement once really makes the viewer stop and look at it. The eye is drawn toward the bold, red color initially but then wanders to the other words on the page. I also chose to go with a horizontal layout for this poster to make it stand out from the regular 11x17 inch poster. I am glad I was able to use some typography in this poster.

The second poster I wanted to keep really simple. The illustration of the foot on the ball is my own photography with a live trace applied to it in Illustrator. I think it is important to, when possible, take and use your own photography when doing projects. That is one thing I strive to do when pulling things together, if photos are not given to me. I am glad that I was able to use a piece of my photography in this project. I hope that in the future I can continue to use my own photographs when doing projects.
